NYSSRA Coaches Clinic
NYSSRA will conduct a two-day Coaches Education Clinic located in Lake placid NY, November 25-27, 2022, coming in the evening of the 25th. This is the second (COVID interrupted) clinic that NYSRA has scheduled that incorporates on-snow sessions with indoor seminars. The snow portion will be held at Whiteface Mountain with indoor sessions at the Olympic Training Center (OTC). NYSSRA will present content and attendance to USSS Sport Education for continuing education credit. This is an 8 credit event (for two days) that satisfies a two year time period. On-snow is planned to be Saturday (2/3 of a day), classroom Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning through 2:00 PM.
The scope of this project is to present on-snow and in-classroom essential areas of skill development that juniors must have to be successful as they move up in age groups. We will also cover why/how junior speed development is important to introduce early. Additionally,
a special presentation on how athletes deal with/reduce stress on race day by Kathy Okoniewski. Additional presentations from Don DelNegro, former Boston Bruins trainer, on race-event recovery, along with other topics (see schedule below).
The OTC will only have 55 beds for use on these dates. Coaches come in on Friday evening and depart after sessions on Sunday (early afternoon). Registration will open on October 21, 2022 (must be a USSS and NYSSRA member to register) on Adminskiracing.com, first come first serve basis. Additional Coaches will be allowed to register (without lodging) when the 55 lodging spaces are filled but will have to find their own lodging.
Lift tickets at Whiteface, lodging, and meals at OTC are included in the cost.
