General Information:
As teams arrive at Mt Southington's B-Parking Lot, they will find 10-White, 10x20 ft tents at the back of B- lot. Each race team will be assigned two or three tents, to serve as their home base for the duration of the race. Racers and Parents may enter the ski area through the Racer Welcome Gate (by Ski Patrol). This entrance allows a parent easy access to view their child's race run, and then immediately return to the parking lot (unless they are able to procure a lift ticket from MTSO for the day/evening, which would allow longer access to the base area). A reasonable time (less than 10 min) will be allowed for a one parent, per racer, to occupy the designated spectator area before they will be required to return to the parking lot. Live-Timing can assist parents to determine when to arrive to watch their child’s run. Please remind your parents to observe proper social distancing while spectating. Ski Area policy requires a face covering, at all times, within the gates of Mt. Southington Ski Area.
The Tents should allow our families plenty of room to store gear, snacks, supplies etc. There will be no electricity provided. A racer's car is their primary refuge from cold temperatures. Per US Ski and Snowboard COVID guidelines only one parent, per racer, is allowed in the ski area at the same time unless both parents have purchased a lift ticket.
Lodges are closed to athletes. Bathroom facilities are available in the lodge.
There will be NO race-day registration. Have athletes arrive at least 30 min prior to their assigned inspection time - Meet coaches at the designated team tent in B-Lot to pick up tickets and then proceed to the Racer Gate and load the lift for inspection.
Leave Gear Bags in cars - consider bringing a backpack, with essentials, to the start. There will be designated areas at the start for each team to stage. Signage will be provided. Racers may leave items in their designated areas at their own discretion.
No scoreboards or startlists will be provided. Live-timing (http://livetiming.usskiandsnowboard.org ) is the only place to find startlists, race results, and race reports like the Referee Report, and Second Run Start Lists. A paper startlist will be provided to each head coach at registration.
Mount Southington Ski Area requires that face coverings be worn while at the resort. Athletes may lower their mask in the start gate, to take their race run, but must put it back on before leaving the finish coral.
No free skiing is allowed on the Thunderbolt Trail. Warm up and coat runs can be taken on Avalanche (trail to skier’s right of race trail.) Coaches are encouraged to slip the course when making coat runs.
No special-rate parent tickets will be sold on the day of the race. Anyone wishing to purchase a lift ticket must do so online, in advance. Please note that due to capacity limitations, lift tickets regularly sell out days in advance.
