In accord with State of Connecticut public health guidance and reopening rules related to the COVID-19 pandemic, an athlete must be a member of a Connecticut-based club to compete in this event. Race Information:
Format: Giant Slalom Race consisting of two runs. There will be minimal reset between runs (1-2 gates) with no on-course inspection. Any changes will be communicated to competitors via team captains in a timely manner.

Appointment of Connection Coaches: The Team Captain of each club with competitors participating, or one designee, shall report to the finish corral at 6:45 a.m. for appointment of connection coaches and distribution of radios to such coaches for exchange of information throughout the event. Official Notices & Protests: Will be found on Live Timing (https://livetiming.usskiandsnowboard.org), including electronic Reports by the Referee. Notification of DSQs will also be made by radio to appointed connection coaches. Notification of protests must be made by radio, with confirmed receipt of the protest by radio, or by email to [email protected], during the protest period. In either case, the individual filing the protest must immediately report to the finish corral. In case of technical difficulties, an alternative plan for distribution of race documents that adheres to social distancing rules will be communicated via radio.

Prior to the event: Each athlete and coach must complete an electronic Pre-Screen Questionnaire to be administered through Adminskiracing.com.
6:00 – 6:30 - Lift Ticket Pickup by team captain or designee at the front of the Lodge near ticket windows. One coach picks up the tickets for all coaches and athletes, and a COVID-19 Symptom Check form. Athletes competing from the following clubs should already have their bibs: Mohawk Mountain, Mount Southington, Powder Ridge, and Ski Sundown. Team captains or designees should meet their athletes at designated locations in the parking lot demarcated by signs. Each team captain or designee must confirm that each athlete and coach has completed a Pre-Screen Questionnaire. Each athlete must also complete a COVID-19 Symptom Check the morning of the event with the team captain or designee prior to receiving a lift ticket. The COVID-19 Symptom Check is different and in addition to the Pre-Screen Questionnaire which should have been completed prior to arrival at the venue. The team captain or designee shall keep a record of daily symptom checks completed and lift tickets distributed. A ticket should not be distributed to anyone who has not completed either the pre-screen questionnaire or the daily symptom check. Any individual reporting or displaying symptoms of COVID-19 should be instructed to return to their vehicle immediately and must be reported to the COVID Coordinator and/or Chief of Race immediately by the team captain or designee.

Run 2 of Race 1 will begin following the expiration of the protest period or confirmation from each participating club’s team captain or appointed connection coach that there are no protests.
General Information:
- Face coverings which completely cover the nose and mouth are required to be worn by all persons while on Ski Sundown property except during race runs as follows: Athletes may lower their mask in the start gate, to take their race run, but must put it back on before leaving the finish corral.
- All race participants (athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers) must complete a pre-screen questionnaire within 24-48 hours before the start of the event.
- All race participants (athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers) must complete a daily symptom check the morning of event.
- Lodges are closed to athletes. Bathroom facilities are available in the lodge.
- Only one parent per athlete is permitted to be on the property at a time unless having purchased a lift ticket in advance.
- There will be NO race-day registration. Athletes should arrive at least 30 min prior to their assigned inspection.
- Leave Gear Bags in cars - consider bringing a backpack, with essentials, to the start. There will be designated areas at the start for each team to stage. Signage will be provided. Racers may leave items in their designated areas at their own discretion.
- No scoreboards or startlists will be provided. Live-timing (http://livetiming.usskiandsnowboard.org ) is the only place to find startlists, race results, and race reports like the Referee Report, and Second Run Start Lists. A paper startlist will be provided to each team captain at registration.
- Spectators are not permitted inside the race arena.
- The start area will have team zones demarcated at least six feet apart from each other. Athletes should remain in their designated team zones until called to the start.
- Medals will be given to the athlete’s head coach to distribute.
- No free skiing is allowed on Gunbarrel. Warm up runs can be taken on Temptor. Coaches are encouraged to slip the course when making coat runs.
- No special-rate parent tickets will be sold on the day of the race. Anyone wishing to purchase a lift ticket must do so online, in advance. Please note that due to capacity limitations, lift tickets regularly sell out days in advance.
- Any participant who becomes symptomatic during or within 48 hours after the event is required to notify the Chief of Race and COVID Coordinator. Any participant who tests positive for COVID-19 must follow U.S. Ski & Snowboard Return to Sport guidelines Any participant who has had close contact with a positive COVID-19 case must follow CDC When to Quarantine guidelines before participating in a subsequent U.S. Ski & Snowboard race.
