3rd Annual Matt Piazza Classic
- Event Dates: Saturday, February 15th, 2025 GS Race Thank you for joining us for the 3rd Annual Matt Piazza Classic. Our last two years have seen an amazing turnout due to your participation. The race will be 2 runs in bib order. The order will be U6, U8, U10, U12 and then followed by U14 and older athletes for both runs. As in the past, if time permits we may allow for extra runs. This event is about having fun, seeing old friends, meeting new people, celebrating racing and remembering Matt Piazza. Below you will find details about the day. At the request of the family, this event has also become a major part of the Team’s fundraising efforts. Now entering our third year your participation has helped the Team purchase needed safety netting, training gates, radios, and helping offset costs for athlete travel. Bibs and Tickets: - Will be given to each registrant in the lower level of the main lodge.
8:00 AM - Main Lodge Opens
8:20 AM – 9:15 AM Bib pick up - Main Lodge Lower Level
9:00 AM Lift Open - Participants
9:15 AM - 9:50 AM Inspection for Participants (Top of the course at the start) - Coaches will be available to help if an athlete doesn't have one. Parents may also help athletes.
(No skiing in race venue)
10:00 AM – 1st Run
Class 1 athletes followed by Class 2.
11:15 AM – 12:15 Hotdogs – Thunderbird deck
30 Minutes after Run 1 ends course inspection for Run 2
30 Minute course inspection
12:30 (anticipated) 2nd Run
Class 1 athletes followed by Class 2
End of Race Awards, DJ, celebration!
Hotdogs will be available at Thunderbird Club grill. Please be aware the deck and Thunderbird are for members only.
The celebration will be held on-snow just off Heuga's outdoor patio after the race. Thank you.
Times are subject to change. We will need athlete/parents and participant help rolling nets at the completion and before awards are given.
Awards/Recognition Ceremony will be approximately 45 minutes after the completion of the race and when nets are down and rolled. Top 5 male and female in each class recognized with the overall male and female winner of each getting their name of the trophy.
Athletes must have their ski pass and race bib on at all times. Please return bib at the end of the race (finish area) or a $50 lost bib fee will be charged. The lift safety bar must be down at all times when riding the lift.
