Dear PARA Racer,
Blue Mountain looks forward to hosting this year's state-wide U16 series Finals races. As with the other races in the U16 Series, these races are open to all PARA U16 athletes. Registration is online at https://adminskiracing.com/ and will close at 8:00 am on Wednesday, 2/22/2023
These races conclude the seven-race U16 Series. You may view the series results for races 1 through 4 here: TBA - Will be posted when available!
ONLINE REGISTRATION ONLY. NO IN-PERSON REGISTRATION. NO LATE REGISTRATION.
Athletes may arrive at Summit or Valley. All Blue Mountain lodges are open. Please consider booting up in your vehicles if you prefer not to be indoors. All guests should feel free to wear a mask or face covering if more comfortable doing so. No athlete check-in is required on race day. Team Captains will receive their respective teams' bibs, and RFID lift passes at Valley during the Team Captains Meeting on snow near the base of the Comet Quad lift.
MANDATORY USSA Equipment Specs for U16
GS: no minimum length, 17m minimum radius
SL: 130cm minimum length, no minimum radius
Equipment will be checked.
REGULATION HELMETS are mandatory for all races
Race Day Schedule for both Saturday and Sunday
8:00 am Brief Team Captain's meeting by Comet Quad Lift. Captains get Athlete Bibs & Rosters at this meeting.
8:00 am Lifts Open
8:10 am Inspection Begins
8:50 am Entry to Course for Inspection ends
9:00 am Course Inspection Closes
9:15 am Forerunners Start then 1st run begins
9:30am Run 1 Starts
Reset with the Second run beginning approximately 90 minutes after the end of the first run
2nd Run Inspection 30 minutes after the finish of the first run
2nd Run Forerunners 75 minutes after the finish of the first run
2nd Run Start 90 minutes after the finish of the first run
EVENT CHECK-IN
No event check-in will occur for any U16 Series Finals Races at Blue Mountain. Athlete bibs and lift tickets will be distributed to coaches each morning.
ATHLETE ENTRY FEES and LIFT TICKETS- $270.00 for Both Days
The entry fee covers both day's races and lifts tickets. Each day athletes will receive a new lift ticket.
Athletes will receive a refund of the race fee and lift ticket for any day not racing.
Home club competitors will receive Club Discount in AdminSkiRacing.
LIFT TICKETS
Spectator lift tickets may be purchased at www.shopskibluemt.com.Purchase early for the best rates.
For safety reasons, Blue Mountain does not permit walking to the race venue, and spectators must ski or snowboard to the race hill.
RACE BIBS
Bibs will be assigned and collected for all three days of the U16 Finals races. Athletes- please return your bib at the finish corral at the end of each day's last run.
PARENT PARTICIPATION
It is requested for each racer to have a parent or friend assist with officiating or gate judging at least one of the three days. Volunteer sign-up sheets are available online at: https://www.timetosignup.com/bluemtracing/.
SPECTATORS
For safety reasons, Blue Mountain does not permit walking to the race venue. Spectators must ski or snowboard to race hill.NO spectators are allowed on Razor's Edge, the race trail. Spectators may observe from the Challenge trail, the service trail from Dreamweaver, or the connector just above "The Falls." For safety reasons, all spectators MUST remain at least 7ft behind the b-netting. We recommend that spectators observe from the finish area.
No Walkers allowed on any Ski Area Trail.
COACHES LIFT TICKETS
All coaches supporting athletes at U16 Finals MUST register online at www.adminskiracing.com. Please note for each day that you will be in attendance. Lift tickets will be provided for registered coaches and at bib distribution each morning at the base of the Comet Quad lift.
COACH'S MEETING
Thursday, February 23rd: 8:00 pm via Zoom. The link will be provided to registered coaches. There will be brief updates at bib distribution each day of the U16 Finals at the Comet Quad Lift before inspection.
AWARDS AND POSTSEASON
THE AWARD CEREMONY FOR ALL INDIVIDUAL DISCIPLINE RACES WILL TAKE PLACE ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON. The ceremony will take place outdoors (weather permitting) on the mountainside of the Valley Lodge after the SL race on Sunday, February 26, 2023
The 2023 Male and Female PARA U16 State Champions will be announced at the Awards Ceremony.
The 2023 U16 PARA State Team will be announced at the Awards Ceremony.
AWARDS CRITERIA FOR INDIVIDUAL RACES AND SELECTION TO PARA STATE TEAM
World Cup points will be accumulated from each of the seven U16 races in the 2023 series. State team selection will be based on the highest aggregate number of World Cup points. Tiebreaker methods apply as indicated in the PARA guide.
SG AWARDS- The single run results for this discipline will determine awards for individual Super G.
SL & GS AWARDS- The combined run results for each discipline will determine awards for individual Slalom and Giant Slalom.
There will be a brief meeting of all those selected for the teams and alternates immediately following the awards ceremony. Please come prepared to give a FIRM decision on whether or not you will attend the following events.
